International reports estimate the
Middle East ’s healthcare sector is worth US$74 billion, and is growing at a rate of 16% annually.
Just in Dubai, the market is estimated at US$600 million in 2009 and is projected to grow at an average of 6.4%, reaching US$819 million by 2014. Imports to Dubai accound for an estimated 96.6% of the medical device market in value terms and growth is expected to remain strong over the forecast period.
The Jordanian market is approximately US$75 million, with 22% of ’s medical devices imported from the . Jordan is striving to become a medical hub for the Middle East, attracting patients from many parts of the Arab world who come for its high-quality care at reasonable rates.
Healthcare spending alone in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) is forecast to reach $60 billion annually by 2025.
Egypt's highly competitive medical market is estimated at US$255 million, with an annual growth rate of 10%.
